Helpdesk Training Article
Information for Cambridge English candidates who are unhappy with their exam results.
If you are unhappy with the result of your exam and you wish to query your final grade, please discuss this with your exam centre. If you are still unhappy, they can submit an Enquiry on Results on your behalf.
There are two stages to this process.
- Stage 1 - A full clerical re-check*. We will check that your paper-based or digital exam has been correctly processed, to make sure there have been no mistakes when calculating your final grade. (At this stage, your exam papers will not be re-marked.)
- Stage 2 - A full re-mark of your Writing test**. We will check that your Writing test has been marked in line with Cambridge English marking standards.
* CEQ Speaking tests are rated independently by two examiners, and are not recorded. It is therefore not possible for Speaking tests to be re-checked.
** This excludes Pre A1 Starters, A1 Movers and A2 Flyers (YLE Starters, Movers and Flyers) and the Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT).
Your exam centre must submit an Enquiry on Results on your behalf and guide you through the process. There is a charge for each stage, which will be refunded if your enquiry leads to a grade change. Please speak to your exam centre for information about the costs and time-scales for an Enquiry on Results.
Please be aware:
- It is possible for your grade to go up, go down or remain the same.
- There are deadlines for requesting Enquiries on Results. If you wish to query your final grade, you will need to contact your centre as soon as possible after receiving your result to find out what the deadlines are.
- Once your centre submits an Enquiry on Results on your behalf, you will not be able to view or download your Statement of Results until the enquiry process is completed.
