User Roles

There are different administrative responsibilities, known as user roles, which are available on the Cambridge English Test Portal, Metrica. This article details the user roles available for the Cambridge English Placement Test (CEPT) and the Young Learners Placement Test (YLPT).

Only the CEPT and YLPT Agent roles can create additional Users. Please consult the table below to find out how each of the user roles differs from the other.

Intended For

CEPT or YLPT Agent

This user can:

Purchase CEPT/YLPT credits in the shop.
View the number of credits purchased.
Add, edit and delete other CEPT/YLPT user roles.
Set-up Clients, approve and allocate credits to these Clients.
Add, edit and delete venues.
Create and edit sessions.
View, add, edit and withdraw entries from sessions.
Update and amend candidate details in the candidate account.
Export Candidate Data from within the Session Entries screen, using the Export All & Export Selected buttons.
View and update the Attendance Register.
Run reports, including the Test Report Form, under CEPT/YLPT Agent Reports.

This role is assigned to the named CEPT/YLPT Agent in the application for the Institution, and who oversees the account on Metrica.

This role should only be assigned to the CEPT/YLPT Agent of the Institution, and is not intended for Client users. It should not be assigned with any other CEPT/YLPT role.

CEPT or YLPT Admin

This user can:

Purchase CEPT/YLPT test credits in the shop.
View the number of credits purchased.
Set-up Clients.
Add, edit and delete CEPT/YLPT Client user roles.
Add, edit and delete venues.
Create and edit sessions.
View, add, edit and withdraw candidate entries from sessions.
Update and amend candidate details in the candidate account.
Export Candidate Data from within the Session Entries screen, using the Export All & Export Selected buttons.
Run reports, including the Test Report Form, under CEPT/YLPT Agent Reports.

This role is assigned to additional users for the Institution, and is assigned out by the CEPT/YLPT Agent.

This role should be assigned to the CEPT/YLPT Admin/s of the Institution, and is not intended for Client users. It should not be assigned with any other CEPT/YLPT role.

CEPT or YLPT Client Manager

This user can:

Request CEPT/YLPT credits from the Agent and view the number of credits available.
Add and edit the CEPT/YLPT Client Admin role.
Add, edit and delete venues.
Create and edit sessions.
View, add, edit and withdraw candidate entries from sessions.
Update and amend candidate details in the candidate account.
Export Candidate Data from within the Session Entries screen, using the Export All & Export Selected buttons.
Run reports, including the Test Report Form, under CEPT/YLPT Client Reports.

This role is assigned out by the CEPT/YLPT Agent and/or CEPT/YLPT Admin.

This role manages their own Client account and should not be assigned with any other CEPT/YLPT role.

CEPT or YLPT Client Admin

This user can:

Request CEPT/YLPT credits from the Agent and view the number of credits available.
View users.
Add, edit and delete venues.
Create and edit sessions.
View, add, edit and withdraw candidate entries from sessions.
Update and amend candidate details in the candidate account.
Export Candidate Data from within the Session Entries screen, using the Export All & Export Selected buttons.
Run reports, including the Test Report Form, under CEPT/YLPT Client Reports.

This role is assigned out by the CEPT/YLPT Agent, CEPT/YLPT Admin and/or CEPT/YLPT Client Manager.

This role has access to complete admin duties only, under the Client account. It should not be assigned with any other CEPT/YLPT role.
