Helpdesk Training Article
For exams taken on or after 6 April 2026 there will be some changes to your Statement of Results and certificate. This article explains what those changes are.
What is changing on the Statement of Results and Why?
There are two changes to the Statement of Results:
- The Statement of Results will show the test day photo. Photos are mandatory for B2 First, C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency. They are not mandatory for B2 First for Schools or other Cambridge English Qualifications, but if a photo is taken on the test day, it will appear on the Statement of Results. This is so that universities, immigration authorities and employers that recognise the exams can be certain that the result is for the right candidate.
- The wording at the bottom of the Statement of Results is changing to make it clearer what it means to get grade A, as well as some layout and wording changes for greater clarity.

What is changing on the certificate and why?
There are two changes to the certificate:
- The Ofqual logo that appears at the bottom of the certificate will remain. Cambridge English Qualifications are accredited by Ofqual, the regulator of qualifications in England. The logos for the regulators in Northern Ireland and Wales will now only show if you take the exam in those countries (in addition to the Ofqual logo). There is no change to the regulatory status of the exams.
- The wording on the back will change, to make it clearer what a grade A means.
The test day photo will not appear on the certificate.
When will the changes happen?
The changes apply to Statement of Results and certificates for exams taken on and after 6 April 2026.
What will happen if I do not have my photo taken on the test day?
Photos are mandatory for B2 First, C1 Advanced and C2 Proficiency. By registering for one of these exams, candidates (or their parent/guardian) understand that a test day photo will be taken.
If you refuse to have your photo taken, you may not be allowed to take the exam or will not receive a result.
For other exams, including B2 First for Schools, photos aren’t mandatory. However, if you are likely to use your result for admission to university, to apply for a job, or for immigration purposes, we recommend that you ask your exam centre to take your photo. It will then appear on your Statement of Results and on the Results Verification Service.
A university, employer or immigration authority may not accept your result without a photo.
