Helpdesk Training Article
People with colour deficiency have difficulty identifying and distinguishing between certain colours, most usually shades of red, yellow and green. In the majority of our exams, this is not a consideration, but colour may be tested in Young Learner qualifications.
Our Pre-A1 Starter, A1 Mover and A2 Flyer qualifications sometimes ask questions about colour, or ask children to colour in a picture. If you have a candidate who has colour vision deficiency, here is what to do:
- Make a special arrangements application on Cambridge English for Centres.
- You won’t need modified materials, but you will need to let us know so that we can send you instructions about how to administer the test version.
- We will send you a letter listing any questions on the Read/Write paper which will not be marked, and/or asking you to ensure the child’s coloured pencils are clearly labelled with the names of the colours for the Listening paper. You also need to tell the Speaking Examiner to avoid asking questions concerning colour.
- Please let us know if you have any questions about the process or the question papers.
